Sankthansaften Candle Holder
This candle holder is inspired by Sankthansaften, Denmark’s traditional midsummer festival, where people gather to burn away negativity — symbolized by fire and fireworks. The design combines form and fragrance to recreate that ritual. It includes three scent blends, each connected to Danish routines:
– Festival Memory – symbolic and magical, evoking tradition and superstition
– Sleep – calming and soft
– Stress Reliever – grounding and relaxing
The piece invites users into a quiet ritual — blending cultural memory with personal reflection.

-
Bamboo Plywood
Origin - Grows in Asia, Australia, and the Americas — most used: Moso species from China
Material Process - Thin strips cut from the bamboo stem
Manufacturing - Follows horizontal or vertical grain; used for walls, cabinetry, furniture
Sustainability - Fast-growing, absorbs carbon, harder than maple or oak
End-of-Life - Can be recycled if chemical-free
Design Potential - Warm, natural texture; repairable and replaceable
-
Glass
Origin - Dates back 3,600+ years — first used in Mesopotamia
Material Process - Made from sand, soda ash, and limestone — melted at ~1500°C
Manufacturing - Made from raw or recycled materials and re-melted
Sustainability - Fully recyclable, endlessly re-meltable
End-of-Life - Often crushed with other materials or re-melted into new glass
Design Potential - Hard, glossy finish; infinite shape possibilities
